In accordance with our mission as a Non-Profit Organization, Alaska Celtic Pipes & Drums are committed to teaching, promoting, cultivating, and developing quality performance of Scottish Highland Bagpipes and Drums. We provide weekly instruction to anyone that has a desire and commitment to learn Piping or Drumming!

Alaska Celtic Pipes & Drums routinely practice every Friday evening, from 6:30-9:00pm, in Chugiak/Eagle River.

The Band is always looking for new pipers and drummers at any level, and prospective members are welcome at any Band practice.

Interested players should contact the band, and regularly come to weekly Band practice in order to get the full repertoire, including Band settings for the minimum set of tunes above.

To compete with the Band, players must achieve proficiency and comfort with both their instrument and the competition tunes. Please contact the Pipe Major for these tune settings.

Throughout the year on Fridays 5:30pm-6:30pm we hold lessons for beginners and intermediate pipers on chanter and bagpipe, as well as lessons for beginner and intermediate drummers (Scottish Side Drum, Tenor, and Bass.) During the normal school year, we also hold beginning and intermediate chanter and drum lessons at UAA/Mat-Su College, Room FSM 207 (upstairs in main admin building, in the “Music Room”) on Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30pm. Lessons are by arrangement, prior to weekly practice at each venue. If you’re interested, please contact Pipe Major Richard Christiansen by text at 907-315-9838, or email at jungstensgericht@yahoo.com If you are interested in starting chanter or drumming lessons, or if you are interested in joining the Band, contact the Pipe Major via email at jungstensgericht@yahoo.com (use the handy link at the bottom of the page,) or by text/telephone at 907-315-9838.
